All great leaders start with a vision. It must be so strong and important to them that they would never give it up for any reason. They will follow their vision determinedly as they know there is no other acceptable outcome. It's very obvious from the outside when someone is truly on a path and that is magnetic. This is paramount to your leadership. Without a solid vision for your future people cannot follow you as you won't be going anywhere.
2. Learn and Apply a Good System
To effect any change in your life you must apply a system with a consistent and effective effort. If you want to change your mindset you follow laid out exercises and do them everyday. This is just a system to create a desired outcome. The shortest distance between two points is a line. Following a clear straight path, or system, will get you from A to B much more quickly than if you constantly change your direction.
3. Add Value
If you haven't added value to yourself you have nothing to offer. If you don't have extra knowledge, resources, and capabilities to help you get where you are going, no one will need to join you. They would simply go find someone who can give them extra information. It's easy to add value: education. Learn whatever you can get your hands on and never think you're done. To be an effective leader you must always be learning, keeping up to date, and understanding that you never have all the answers.
4. Give Your Value Away
The real secret to leadership is that giving value away adds to your own value instead of decreasing it. Every time you give away good quality information without looking for something in return you become more of a leader in the eyes of those around you. You will have confidence in the abundance of information, prospects, wealth, etc around you and know that helping other people is really helping yourself.
5. Expect Your Followers To Be Leaders
The principal applies to everyone, your followers will need to become leaders themselves to achieve the success they are seeking. So point them in the right direction, help them get educated themselves, give them the resources and tools that helped you, then let them find their own path. Teach them how to create their own vision, and expect them to stop following you.
